Family History CD £10

Following the success of the Wall of Names and the Book of Honour we have now launched the Family History CD project. The CD will contain all the details as entered on the Wall of Names computer database at STEAM – Museum of the Great Western Railway. This information as given to Steam relates to the date and place of birth, trade or occupation, length of service, places worked in and any particular project worked on by the person being honoured.

As well as recording the skills of the industries best craftsmen and women, in some cases names of other members of the family have been recorded, so it is an ideal way of adding family history to your family tree.

We have also opened a new Wall of Names gallery down stairs that is available to all railwaymen and women from any railway worldwide so that their families can commemorate their achievements with a personal plaque. We are very keen to make the Wall of Names project a way of preserving not just the working life of the person being honoured, but also of their family, so that future generations can trace their roots back to the age of steam and the epoch of the industrial revolution through to present day diesel.

If you have a relation honoured on the Wall of Names and wish to have their database record updated free of charge to include your family details, use the separate form found with this leaflet. When you have completed the form making sure you have entered the person on the plaque, mark it UPDATE and return it to STEAM.

……………………………………………………

I wish to order a Family History CD from the STEAM Museums Wall of Names database for the following names and enclose a cheque for £10 payable to Swindon Borough Council. Send to: WON CD. Steam Museum, Kemble Drive, Swindon SN2 2TA.
